What is soil preparation – and why is it crucial for successful planting?

Soil preparation is the preparatory measure that creates optimal conditions for new plants to establish themselves. It involves loosening the soil and creating planting points where the plants have good access to water, nutrients and oxygen – while reducing the risk of competition from weeds and grasses.

The most common method in southern Sweden is spot soil preparation, where small areas of mineral soil are created with the help of an excavator or scarifier to give the plant the best possible start.

Benefits of land preparation:

  • Improved plant survival and growth
  • Reduces competition from weeds and brush
  • Protects against frost and drought
  • Simplifies planting work and increases quality

Grimslövs Skogstjänst has the right machines, local knowledge and experience to perform soil preparation efficiently and environmentally friendly. We plan and carry out the work according to current certification requirements.
