ASH SPREADING

What is the reason for this?

Ash burning is a relatively new phenomenon based on extensive research. The extraction of forest fuel removes nutrients from the forest. One way to compensate for the loss of nutrients is to recycle the ash formed when the fuel is burned. Many important nutrients remain in the ash, such as phosphorus and the basic elements calcium, magnesium and potassium. In some areas, an increase in growth of up to 10% has been measured thanks to ash spreading.

Currently, we spread about 8000 tons of ash per year. The ash comes from Södra Cell’s pulp industries and the spreading is done with Södra Skogsägarna as the client. We have a purpose-built machine that mainly operates in south-eastern Sweden.
